Catching a Giant Vundu in Cahora Bassa, Mozambique!!!

In this video I catch a very memorable vundu in Cahora Bassa Mozambique. After n few days trying I hooked up on a large vundu unexpectedly. The vundu is the largest of the catfish species in Southern Africa also called the solomon fish, tsuni, mazunda, sampa, cur, lenda, or certa.

In this video we stayed at Casa da Pesca Tiger Fishing Lodge situated on an island in the Cahora Bassa. The lodge is owned and operated by legendary fisherman Emildo Sada. He and his wife Anna has owned and operated tiger fishing lodges in the Cahora for the past 18 years.

Lake Cahora Bassa is a lifeline to many, an electricity source to a nation and a dream to the avid adventurer.

Where the sun rises in a haste and hesitantly sets. Where a people live off the water and land, risking their lives every day in order to feed their families and per adventure earn a small income in an almost non existing economy. Where fishing in a ducked out makoro gets priority over safety, yet sadly decimating the very source that give sustenance and a means to well-being.

A place where fish eagles reign in the sky, crocodiles and hippos dominate the surface and the tiger fish command respect in the waters.

A harsh, unforgiving, true African locale, but yet ever so majestic.
An adventure well defined!!
