Omi-jingu Shrine 近江神宮 (4K)

This is Omi-Jingu Shrine Near Lake Biwa. It is home to the Meijin and Queen matches for the Karuta card game. The match is to decide who is the strongest male and female player. Now this shrine has been well-known but it's popularity has increased after the Chihayafuru anime came out.

Would the mountain cherry blossoms
return my affection
for there is no one else out here.


もろともに あはれと思へ 山桜 花よりほかに 知る人もなし


The first time I heard it was translated as; "Would the flower understand how beautiful I think it is." Which is not correct but at the time and now it speaks to me. About how some of the things and sights I see will not understand how breathtaking I find them. A tall waterfall with the fresh air and water spray. Even this shrine was so close to train tracks but it still transported me into a different world.
