It's pretty much too hot to do an above ground galvanized steel pond in Texas - it's just too hot. I've tried shade cloth, trellises, you name it. But it's just too hot here - the water temp eventually gets hot enough to kill everything, even mosquito larva! This is what we did to (hopefully) make it work.
