कश्मीर से धारा 370 हटने के पश्चात कश्मीर घाटी कई परिवर्तनों का साक्षी बन रहा है। जिसके कई साकारात्मक प्रभाव भी देखने को मिल रहे हैं।

पहले हम आपको इस मंदिर के इतिहास व महत्व को बताते हैं। कश्मीरी पंडितों की आस्था का प्रतीक शारदा पीठ मंदिर लगभग 5000 वर्षों से अधिक प्राचीन मंदिर माना जाता है। कश्मीरी लोगों विशेषकर पंडितों समेत देशभर के हिंदुओं के मन में इस मंदिर को लेकर आज भी दर्द दिखता है। शारदा पीठ मंदिर अमरनाथ और अनंतनाग के मार्तंड सूर्य मंदिर की ही प्रकार से कश्मीर समेत पूरे भारत के लिए श्रद्धा का केंद्र है। परंतु इस मंदिर की वर्तमान स्थिति आप देख नहीं पाएंगे इतनी दयनीय है।

शारदा पीठ का अर्थ है माता शारदा का स्थान। शारदा देवी माता सरस्वती का ही एक नाम है। इसे कश्मीरी नाम भी बताया जाता है। पौराणिक कथा के अनुसार माता सती का दाहिना हाथ इस स्थान गिरा था। हिंदू धर्म की मान्यता के अनुसार, इसे देवी शक्ति के 18 महाशक्ति पीठों में से एक माना गया है। शारदा पीठ मंदिर का धार्मिक आस्था के साथ ही शैक्षणिक महत्व भी है। भारतीय उपमहाद्वीप के प्रमुख प्राचीन विश्वविद्यालयों में एक शारदा पीठ भी था। जो कि अब वर्तमान में पाकिस्तान के कब्जे वाले कश्मीर में नियंत्रण रेखा के पास किशनगंगा (नीलम) नदी के तट पर स्थित है। श्रीनगर से लगभग 124 , मुजफ्फराबाद से लगभग 140 और कुपवाड़ा जिला मुख्यालय से इसकी दूरी लगभग 30 किलोमीटर है। शारदा देवी मंदिर में पिछले 70 सालों से विधिवत पूजा नहीं हुई है। आज भी देश भर के ब्राह्मण (पंडित) कर्मकांड के समय शारदा पीठ को नमन करते हैं।
