Qasida Al-Burdah (The Poem of the Mantle), known as The Burdah, is a poem in praise of The Prophet ﷺ. It was composed by Al Busiri in the 7th century Hijri and is one of the most widely recited poems in the world. The actual title of the poem is The Celestial Lights in Praise of the Best of Creation (الكواكب الدرية في مدح خير البرية).

On this Milad-un-Nabi, Mehfil-e-Sama’a recreates this thirteenth-century ode of praise to our Prophet (P.B.U.H). Bringing you a rendition of ‘Qaseeda Burdah Shareef’ with some of the finest Sufi and folk performers of the South, Irfan Erooth and Jawed Aslam featuring Nabeel Zubair, Hamda Zubair, and a bunch of talented young music prodigies.

محمد سيد الكونين والثقلين

~My Lord! Send salutations and greetings forever upon Your beloved,
who is the best of all creations.
(The beloved Prophet) Muhammad (A) is the Leader of both worlds and both creations (man and jinn); and of both groups, Arabs and non-Arabs.

يا ربى بالمصطفى بلغ مقاصدنا
و اغفر لنا ما مضى يا واسع الكرم

~O (Our) Lord! Fulfill (all of) our (good) objects and forgive us what has passed (in committing sins) for the sake of (Your Beloved Prophet) Mustafa (the chosen one A), O the Most bountiful (and the most generous).

پڑھو دُرود پڑھو مومنو قرینے سے
حضور خود ہی چلے آئینگے مدینے سے

~Oh believers, Praise (upon the Prophet) in decency
The Prophet himself will come to us from Madina

هو الحبيب الذي ترجي شفاعته
لكل هول من الأهوال مقتحم
(𝘏𝘶 𝘈𝘭 𝘏𝘢𝘣𝘦𝘦𝘣𝘶𝘭𝘭𝘢𝘥𝘩𝘦𝘦 𝘛𝘩𝘶𝘳𝘶𝘫𝘢 𝘚𝘩𝘢𝘧𝘢’𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘶𝘩𝘶
𝘓𝘪 𝘒𝘶𝘭𝘭𝘪 𝘏𝘢𝘶𝘭𝘪𝘯 𝘔𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘈𝘩𝘸𝘢𝘭𝘪 𝘔𝘶𝘲𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘩𝘪𝘮𝘪)

~He (A) is the most beloved (of Allah Almighty) whose intercession (شفاعۃ) is hoped for every fear (and distress) that is going to come (on the day of agony and fears).

بَلَغَ الْعُلا بِكَمالِهِ
كَشَفَ الْدُّجىٰ بِجَمالِهِ
حَسُنَتْ جَميعُ خِصالِهِ
صَلّوا عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ
