Over tha past five years I have been visiting the disused Slate Quarries in Snowdonia, gradually building up a portfolio of photos which capture a landscape lost in time where nature has taken over to reclaim the old slate buildings within the natural landscape.

From what began as a curiosity in the history of human influence within the landscape, it has become a photography project, where I have been gradually building up a photography portfolio from the various locations explored.

Slate extraction began at Cwmorthin Quarry in 1810, with work carrying on right up to 1997.
Slate extraction began at Dorothea Quarry in the 1820s and was closed down in 1970.
Slate extraction began at Pen-yr-Orsedd Quarry in 1816 until closing down in 1979.
