Learn how to change the chain and sprockets on a GSXR 1000 motorcycle. How do you know when to change the chain on your motorcycle? There are two big signs. First, the teeth on the rear sprocket will start to look like crashing waves, meaning they’re worn. Second, you’ll have run out of adjustment to keep the chain tight, meaning the chain has been stretched as far as it can go.

In this video, John shows you how to remove the old chain and then remove the old front and rear sprockets from the GSXR. Then we’ll replace the sprockets on our GSXR and get the rear tire mounted again. Next we’ll show you how to install a new chain on your motorcycle using a chain tool, and we’ll finish the job by adjusting the motorcycle chain and then lubing it.
