Northland Regional Council recently contracted Manaaki Whenua Landcare Research to produce land use data layers covering Aotearoa’s northernmost region. As a result the council has much more information to manage Northland’s environment, infrastructure, economy, and quality of life. The presentation shows some of these layers, the information they contain, and the approach taken to build them.

WSP worked with BOPRC to develop inherent biophysical risk mapping for landowners for two catchments. Using freely available data layers, biophysical risk maps were created for nitrogen, phosphorus, sediment and E-coli and validated in the field to create farm scaled outputs for the identification of risk. This presentation will discuss the approach taken and outputs delivered.
