La chanson "Carol of the Bells" a été composée par le compositeur ukrainien Mykola Leontovych en 1914. Leontovych était un musicien et chef d'orchestre ukrainien, et la pièce originale, intitulée "Shchedryk", était une chanson folklorique ukrainienne. Elle a été adaptée et popularisée sous le nom de "Carol of the Bells" après avoir été arrangée en anglais par Peter Wilhousky dans les années 1930.

Je tiens à dédier cette prestation à mes ami(e)s de l'ensemble vocal ''Douze-En-Choeur'', une formation dont j'ai fait partie pendant un an avant de céder ma place pour des raisons personnelles. Ces gens-là se fendent en quatre pour la fondation Louis-Philippe Janvier, dont tout l'argent amassé lors des concerts va directement à la fondation. Une bande d'ami(e)s dévoué(e)s qui ne bénéficient rien d'autre que le bonheur et la joie de chanter ensemble.

Cette pièce de Noël fait partie du répertoire de la troupe et je tenais à souligner la beauté de cet arrangement spécifiquement pour mes ami(e)s de Douze-En-Choeur.

The song "Carol of the Bells" was composed by Ukrainian composer Mykola Leontovych in 1914. Leontovych was a Ukrainian musician and conductor, and the original piece, titled "Shchedryk," was a Ukrainian folk song. It was adapted and popularized under the name "Carol of the Bells" after being arranged in English by Peter Wilhousky in the 1930s.

I would like to dedicate this performance to my friends from the vocal ensemble "Douze-En-Choeur," a group I was part of for one year before stepping down for personal reasons. These people go above and beyond for the Louis-Philippe Janvier Foundation, with all the money raised during concerts going directly to the foundation. A group of dedicated friends who gain nothing but the happiness and joy of singing together.

This Christmas piece is part of the troupe’s repertoire, and I wanted to highlight the beauty of this arrangement specifically for my friends at Douze-En-Choeur.
