Story 1 – The Townhouse Stalker in the Black Hoodie
In 2021, after a rough breakup, she moved into a quiet Illinois townhouse, looking for solitude. Instead, she got a neighbor who stood outside at night, just staring.
It started with scraping metal and footsteps in the decorative rock behind her bedroom. Then someone wedged the backyard gate open with a stone, tested the sliding glass door at 2:14 a.m., and finally stepped into the view of her new security camera: tall, hood up, gloves on… smiling directly into the lens.
The police kept saying, “No crime, nothing we can do.”
She moved out—only to get a message from the new tenant asking if she’d ever seen a man in a black hoodie in the backyard.

Story 2 – Don’t Answer the Phone in the Bedroom
He works for a property preservation company, cleaning out foreclosed homes. Most are sad, some are filthy. This one in rural upstate New York was different.
No phone service. No reception. But his work cell still rang: “Unknown Caller.” A whisper on the line said, “Don’t answer the phone in the bedroom.”
Upstairs, an old rotary phone with a dead line began ringing anyway. In the basement, he found a cordless phone and notebooks full of entries like: “Rang once, didn’t answer. Picked up, warned him.”
He fled. The coworker who went back later heard the same dead rotary phone ring—and quit the job the next day.

Story 3 – Something Was on the Basement Stairs
In 2019, he rented a small, cheap house on the edge of town. The only thing he didn’t like was the basement: heavy door, light switch halfway down, one bare bulb.
First came the soft, three-knock tapping on the basement door at 3 a.m. Then the breathing on the other side. Then, one night, he heard the door slowly creak open and footsteps coming up from the dark.
Police never found anyone. He put a heavy padlock on the door… and later came home to find it snapped in half on the floor, the door slightly open.
He nailed it shut. A few nights later, lying in bed, he heard a low, almost-voice vibration from directly under his floor. From under his bed.
That was the night he left for good.
