🏠 Home Renovation Nightmare with Bowden Home Solutions & Construction LLC

In this video, I share my unfortunate experience with Bowden Home Solutions & Construction LLC, a contractor I hired for a fixer-upper duplex and basement remodel. Despite my initial trust in the contractor, who claimed to be an Army reserve with integrity and discipline, my project turned into a nightmare.

After a month of delays and excuses, it became clear that I was dealing with a scammer posing as a contractor. Having had previous remodeling experiences, I never expected to fall victim to such deception. Unfortunately, I learned the hard way that it's crucial to protect your interests in any home improvement project.

💸 Financial Setback: I foolishly paid the contractor $5500 upfront, feeling committed to the project. As issues surfaced, including incorrect window installations and failure to meet historic district requirements, I had already paid $25,500. The contractor insisted on additional payments for his mistakes, leaving me with unauthorized windows and a hefty bill for his errors.

🏛️ Historic District Hassles: The contractor blamed the city for not informing him about the property's historic district status. However, city officials contradicted his claims, revealing his lack of transparency during the permit application process. Now, I'm left with non-compliant windows and facing additional costs.

🚧 Incomplete Work: The project was riddled with incomplete tasks. The blame game continued, with the contractor pointing fingers at the city and his workers. Excuses ranged from workers not showing up to one allegedly absconding with funds for plumbing work.

🛠️ Property Neglect: Beyond the construction woes, the contractor neglected responsibilities like cleaning up junk left by the previous tenant. Moldy food in a fridge was left unaddressed, resulting in unnecessary damage during relocation. He dragged a fridge down the stairs for the purpose of disposing of it without prior approval from the owner, damaging several wooden step panels in the process. spraying other items, such as floors, windows, and appliances, while doing the half ass painting job. The lack of care for my property was unacceptable.

🔥 Final Straw: Fed up with the constant issues and lack of accountability, I made the difficult decision to fire the contractor.

LESSON LEARNED: Always vet your contractors thoroughly, trust your instincts, and take the necessary steps to protect your investment.
