I use several methods to try to drain as much old coolant as possible from the engine and cooling system on my 2013 Ford F-150 3.5 Ecoboost truck. Once drained, I mix and refill the cooling system with the new Motorcraft yellow coolant. This new coolant provides better lubrication and protection for the water pump as well as provide additional additives that prevent corrosion better than the original coolant.

I have found that the same issue applies to the 3.5 Ford Flex where less than half of the cooling system can be drained using these methods.
