The extraordinary annual Great Migration of wildebeest and other grazing herbivores across the Serengeti-Mara ecosystem is one of the greatest spectacles in the natural world.The principle players are the wildebeest, whose numbers appear to have settled at just under 1.5 million. These are accompanied by approximately 350,000 Thomson's gazelle, 200,000 zebra and 12,000 eland.
