Mount LeConte, standing at 6,593 feet, is the third highest peak in the Smokies and a must-hike in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. A 15-mile loop combining the Rainbow Falls Trail up and the Bullhead Trail down offers stunning waterfalls, sweeping views, and a full nature therapy experience. The hike begins at the Rainbow Falls Trailhead, where you’ll climb steadily alongside LeConte Creek. After about 2.7 miles, you'll reach the 80-foot Rainbow Falls, a perfect spot for a snack and a selfie. The trail becomes steeper as you ascend, but the payoff is worth it when you reach LeConte Lodge and the summit’s breathtaking views from Cliff Tops and Myrtle Point.

The descent via the Bullhead Trail offers more incredible views, with ridgeline vistas and a look at the Smokies’ regrowth after past wildfires. This 6.4-mile stretch is a reminder of nature’s resilience, completing the loop with a memorable journey back to the trailhead. Hiking Mount LeConte will challenge you, reward you with stunning landscapes, and leave you feeling accomplished.
