When I first started meditating a few years ago, I could never get past the first 10-15 minutes due to the random and distracting thoughts running through my mind. After months of trying to overcome this, I eventually gave up on meditation, figuring it wasn’t meant for me. It felt too hard and seemingly impossible. After sitting for minutes (sometimes hours) trying to meditate, I often felt like I was wasting time, which only added to my frustration and discouragement. So, I set meditation aside altogether for a while and moved on with my life. But then, after receiving what I consider to be “divine insight” on the proper mechanics of meditation, I was compelled to try it again—this time approaching it drastically differently. What I learned from this “divine insight” was that the most important element of meditation is actually something that occurs long before the meditation begins. When I applied what I share and explain in this video to my practice, my meditation was immensely enhanced and accelerated. What used to take me hours to achieve deep meditation (a very rare experience for me at the time) was now taking me minutes, and suddenly, meditation not only became the highlight of my day—something I really looked forward to—but also the modality through which I was waking up to who I truly was and becoming radically transformed from the inside out.
