The market for open and modular 5G campus networks, which enable relevant application scenarios in vertical markets, is growing strongly.

The lead project CampusOS, funded by the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Action (BMWK), is developing important enabler for the German and European market. CampusOS is coordinated by Fraunhofer HHI and Fraunhofer FOKUS.

The focus is on system design and business models as well as the development of technologies such as hardware/software components.

In addition, test environments, demonstrators and pilot applications are developed in the areas of production, intralogistics, networked mobility, construction sites, healthcare and agriculture.

The goal of the CampusOS project is an open and modular technology architecture for 5G campus networks. This will strengthen the European technology offering to support the development of a vendor-independent ecosystem and to foster more competition and innovation.

As part of the CampusOS project, 22 partners from industry and research are testing different operator models, developing reference architectures and technologies, and evaluating interoperability and performance of their solutions in reference testbeds. In addition, the team is testing selected applications as prototypes for different industries.

Der Markt für offene und modulare 5G-Campusnetze, die relevante Anwendungsszenarien in vertikalen Märkten ermöglichen, wächst stark.

Das Leitprojekt CampusOS welches vom Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Klimaschutz (BMWK) gefördert wird, erarbeitet hierfür wichtige Grundlagen für den deutschen und europäischen Markt. CampusOS wird vom Fraunhofer HHI und Fraunhofer FOKUS geleitet.

Schwerpunkt bilden das Systemdesign und Geschäftsmodelle sowie die Entwicklung von Technologien wie Hardware-/Software-Komponenten.

Darüber hinaus werden Testumgebungen, Demonstratoren und Pilotanwendungen in den Bereichen Produktion, Intralogistik, vernetzte Mobilität, Baustellen, Gesundheitswesen und Landwirtschaft entwickelt.
Ziel des Projektes CampusOS ist eine offene und modulare Technologiearchitektur für 5G-Campusnetze. Dadurch wird das europäische Technologieangebot gestärkt der Aufbau eines herstellerunabhängigen Ökosystems zur Förderung von mehr Wettbewerb und Innovationen unterstützt.

Im Rahmen des CampusOS Projekts erproben 22 Partner aus Industrie und Forschung verschiedene Betreibermodelle, entwickeln Referenzarchitekturen und Technologien und evaluieren Interoperabilität und Leistungsfähigkeit ihrer Lösungen in Referenz-Testfeldern. Darüber hinaus testet das Team ausgewählte Anwendungen als Prototypen für unterschiedliche Branchen.
