Hollow Knight is a masterpiece but technically speaking its not unique. I also go into a couple of different examples to what unique/special techniques in making a game.

Deep down the mine takes place in a collapsed mine, you were the last miner to go in and all the others before you have disappeared, the increasing fear of the lack of exits is soon overlooked by the Lovecraftian horror lurking underground. You must get out!
