Making a pond definitely doesn't need to be a time-consuming expensive project and with a little planning and creativity, it's surprising how easy it is to make a water feature, even if you incorporate a homemade fountain.

The pond in this YouTube video is simply made from a large plastic washing bowl bucket thing / big flower pot, which we sanded down, sprayed black on the inside, and then we used a granite stone effect spray paint on the outside. The stone paint looks so realistic and dries very quickly in the sunshine.

The fountain was purchased from Amazon and has an adjustable flow, which is an important feature so that the water doesn't just splash everywhere and out of the pond itself. The fountain was enhanced using a series of different size black plastic bowls, which were filled with bio balls (a biological filter media often used in pond filters and fish tank / aquarium filters). Plants such as floating water lettuce, water lilies and umbrella plants help to make the outdoor patio pond look more natural in the garden, together with some small tropical pink zebra fish and tiger fish.
