We were lucky to catch prog guitarist and YouTube phenom Rabea Massaad in a quiet suite at NAMM to hear him demo his Ernie Ball Music Man Artist Series Sabre.

Rabea worked with Ernie Ball’s design team to adapt a standard Sabre to his tastes. The changes included a fatter neck, an arm carve, his signature Bare Knuckle Silo humbuckers, doughnut inlays, a push-push coil-split switch, a lower and smaller JP15-style tremolo bridge, a satin finish and a color representing Rabea's favorite video game, Bloodborne—Vileblood Burst.

According to Rabea, the element that took the most time to dial in was the recessed lower horn and heel, but it was worth the development time.

“On my older models, when I went all the way up to the highest frets to play a lick on one of my songs, I’d mess it up,” he explains. “But with the recessed neck—nailed it.”
