HYDERABAD GETS ITS 17 MAYOR OF GHMC....

Banjara Hills corporator G.Vijayalaxmi of the TRS party has been elected Mayor of Hyderabad.

The mayor has been elected by show of hands. G.Vijayalaxmi is now the 17th mayor of GHMC. She defeated BJP’s nominee RK Puram corporator Radha Reddy. Hyderabad Mayor is Gadwal Vijayalaxmi is the daughter of senior TRS leader & Rajya Sabha MP K. Keshav Rao.

Mayor Elections:

The MIM supported both the TRS nominees.
Earlier, the oath taking ceremony of the newly elected corporators of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) was completed with Presiding Officer Shweta Mohanthy conducting the proceedings. Election Observer Sandeep Kumar Sultania monitored the proceedings.

Following the appeal from Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) party, the oath taking ceremony was conducted as a group and not for individual candidates. The same appeal was supported by MIM and BJP parties.

It is to mention here that the election for the Mayor and Deputy Mayor posts in the new Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Council held at 12:30pm on Thursday. 11-February-2021.

GHMC made elaborated arrangements for conducting the oath ceremony and mayoral elections. All members were asked to follow Covid-19 protocol. A total of 193 electors, including 149 ward members and 44 ex-officio members elected the Mayor and Deputy Mayor.
