Supporting women's rural development in Tajikistan.

Описание к видео Supporting women's rural development in Tajikistan.

In Tajikistan the agricultural sector contributes almost 20% to the national GDP and provides around 60% of the country’s employment.
Despite its critical importance, farmers face many challenges such as limited arable land, access to clean running water, and lack of agricultural machinery and investment in rural infrastructure.

The Community-based Agricultural Support Project (CASP) is funded by the International Fund for Agricultural Development and the Government of Tajikistan, provided training and resources to rural women.

By hiring out tractors to others, the women are able to invest in other income generating activities such as peanut production, vegetable pickling and weaving.

As of June 2023, CASP project has supported around 180 village organizations, which means between 50-60.000 households, and more than 300.000 people have been supported by the project.
