VW Golf Mk4 R32 GTI Floor mat repair & heel plate upgrade (also for Bora)

Genuine R32 floor mats are getting on and hard to come by so it's good to preserve what you have. Here are two simple yet effective mods to help keep your floormats in good condition.

We were missing one of the rear floor mats but I was lucky enough to find one online for a relatively good price. It fit perfectly but for some reason the fitting clip was the wrong shape for the locks in the carpet. The floor mat holes or fasteners can be converted over from the round type to oval type quite easily. The oval type's twist lock guarantees the mat doesn't pop out and move around (I'm going to look at the Audi TT 8J ones as mine keep popping out!!!)

Adding the custom aluminium heel plate not only looks awesome but will reduce any further wear to the genuine Mk4 R32 floor mat (you can see ours is already well loved). It's so easy to install this and the hardware that comes with the kit gives you a really professional look!
