Desert View Watchtower

Описание к видео Desert View Watchtower

The Desert View Watchtower at the Grand Canyon was designed by architect Mary Colter and completed in 1932. Inspired by ancient Puebloan watchtowers found in the Southwest, Colter created it to blend with the landscape and celebrate Native American art and culture. The tower’s interior features murals by Hopi artist Fred Kabotie, depicting scenes from Hopi life and mythology. At 70 feet tall, the Watchtower offers panoramic views of the Grand Canyon, the Painted Desert, and the Colorado River, making it a favorite viewpoint along the South Rim.
