Hey everyone! This mix was aired in episode 5 of the Monstercat Mix Contest of season 5. The challenge for this episode was to make a 27 minute mix featuring at least 3 tracks and an acapella from the artist mentor that you got paired with. I got paired with Pixel Terror for this challenge.

Making this mix was certainly a challenge, which was mostly because of the required mix length. This was pretty much my first time trying to make such a long mix in a short time. This kind of resulted in a mix that could have been structered better, and most importantly had more interesting moments. Although there are some parts that I'm not too happy with, there are also some mashups that I was pretty happy with in the end.

Most importantly was of course the real challenge to do something creative and unique with 3 of the Pixel Terror's tracks. First we have the Machina x Neo Soul mashup, for this one I tried to blend the two tracks together in such a way that Neo Soul followed the chord progression of Machina during the drop. For the second Pixel Terror moment I made a mashup of Amnesia and Bittersweet. I am pretty happy with this one, the challenge with this mashup was that Amnesia has a bpm of 192, and Bittersweet is only 150 bpm. To mash these songs together into something cohesive and without completely ruining the sound quality I made a lot of cuts in Bittersweet so the songs fit together nicely. The last Pixel Terror mashup was Eclipse x Maxima. This turned into a pretty aggressive sounding drop, but I think it was pretty interesting.

Though I didn't make it to the final round, I had a lot of fun trying to create interesting mashups. StreaK's mix was a lot smoother than mine and it also had some pretty cool moments, so I wasn't surprised when I lost the round. Maybe I'll be able to get further in another season, who knows!
