about museum-

The Roerich Museum was the former home of the famous Russian artist and philosopher, Nikolai Roerich, who settled in the Kullu Valley during his later years. In 1945, the house was also inhabited by the first lady of Indian Cinema - Devika Rani, after she married Roerich’s son, Svetoslav, in 1945. After a while, the actress had the house converted into an art centre, and named it the Roerich Museum in honour of her father-in law. 

Presently the museum houses Roerich’s paintings, prints and family memorabilia. It is jointly managed by the government of Russia and Himachal Pradesh. Most of his paintings were influenced by the sheer beauty of the lush mountains, the valley below and the scenic views of the splendid Beas River. The gallery also sells some merchandises embellished with his paintings which make for great souvenirs.
