Juma Sultan's Aboriginal Music Society - AMS (edit)

Описание к видео Juma Sultan's Aboriginal Music Society - AMS (edit)

Amazing spiritual free jazz recorded live at Ali’s Alley in Feb 1978. Taken from the reissue album Whispers From The Archive on Porter Records (2012). The percussionist and bassist Juma Sultan is a link between free jazz and Jimi Hendrix, and a puzzle piece in the history of musicians’ cooperatives. Juma Sultan’s Aboriginal Music Society was established by Sultan & Ali Abuwi in 1968 and represents an interchangeable alliance of musicians from Woodstock and the New York loft scene, inspired by African cultures and the political ideas of the black power movement. Track ft - Ali Abuwi (oboe, perc), Kasa Allah (piano), Art Bennett (sax), Harold Smith (perc), Juma Sultan (bass, perc), James Ulmer (guitar).
