Pharmaceutical industry is transforming its business models and operations in many ways. Data & digitalization is one of the key driver of the transformation, enabling the companies to improve efficiency and be future ready. The role of Quality function in the Pharmaceutical industry is also evolving and today the function is seen more as a partner, providing agile and innovative solutions and support to the business. Building in-house service centers is an important element of this evolving operating model of Quality function where these centers are leveraged for operational excellence and adaptation of new technology.
At Novartis, ‘going big on data and digital’ is one of the five strategic priorities towards reimagining the way medicine is developed, manufactured and reach patients. As the focus is shifting towards customer and patient experience, it is important for these companies and their Quality functions to allow experimentation and use of latest of technology to create breakthrough solutions. In addition to providing a case for data & digital transformation and role of in-house service centers, this presentation will provide some examples, future opportunities and challenges in adaptation of data & digital solutions in Quality operations.
About the Presenter
Dr. Gurpal Singh is doctorate in Chemistry and has 20+ years of experience working in Pharmaceutical Quality operations. He started his career as a Quality Control chemist and subsequently worked in different quality & compliance areas like stability studies, auditing, product release, process validation and contract manufacturing oversight. He is currently Head of Quality Service Center in Novartis, located in Mexico City, an integral part of the Novartis Quality network, providing agile, efficient and cost effective Quality services and solutions to internal business partners.
