👉 HELPFUL INFO & TROUBLESHOOTING TIPS FOR STEAM SERVERS

1.) Why you can't find a server
The Steam session list has been a problem for years; there is a limit to how many will display and the list is randomized every time you search. Sometimes a server will show up when searching, most of the time it will not and there is no way to control/fix this issue.

2.) How to find a server
Due to everything mentioned above, this video demonstrates the best option available. Follow the steps in this video exactly and share this IP/query port combo with others who need to connect (friends, server ads, etc)
Note: If mods are being installed, the server might say it's "not responding" for some time (see "Not Responding" error section below)

3.) Still not showing in Favorites?
Again, make sure you followed the video exactly. As mentioned previously, if mods are being installed, the server might not show up or say it's "not responding" or not appear in Favorites for some time. See below for more info.

4.) Getting the "Not Responding" error?
If mods are being installed, the server might say it's "not responding" for some time and therefore not appear in Favorites for some time. The amount of time is unknown, it varies based on the size of the mods you selected (and whether or not they are actually stable/up-to-date).
Note: Mods will always be a "use at your own risk" thing; you should do the research before adding them to your server. The Steam Workshop page for the mod is the best place to find relevant information about the mod, including notes from the devs, other users, links to discords, etc.

5.) Getting the "Connection timeout" error?
When first joining a server with mods, you might get this error a few times while Steam downloads the mods to your machine. You can help speed this process up by subscribing to the mods on the Workshop page. Otherwise, just keep trying.

6.) Mods not installing/working?
If your mods are not working/installing, or you're continuously getting a message about how they'll "install on the next server restart" on the Mods + Workshop page... literally just scroll up on that page. You should see a message about the Allowed Platforms setting. Do what it says.

7.) Nothing is working!!
If you have read EVERYTHING above and are still unable to connect to your server via the method described in the video above, try one of the following:

7A.) If you have mods installed on the server:
Shutdown the server, remove all mods, start the server, and try again.
If the server starts on its own after removing all mods, then one of your mods is the issue. Add the mods back to the server, one at a time, until you find out which mod is causing the issue, then don't use that mod. Do everyone else a solid and leave a comment on the Steam Workshop page warning others.
If the server does not start on its own after removing all mods, contact Nitrado support and ask them to move your server to a new machine: https://support.nitrado.net/
