This IoT-based drainage blocking detection system uses a water level sensor to monitor the water level in drains, connected to a NodeMCU (ESP8266) microcontroller. When the water level exceeds a predefined threshold, indicating a potential blockage, the NodeMCU sends an alert to the Adafruit IO cloud platform via Wi-Fi. The Adafruit dashboard displays real-time water level data and triggers notifications. Simultaneously, a local buzzer activates to alert nearby residents or authorities. The system ensures timely intervention to prevent flooding by providing both online (Adafruit) and offline (buzzer) alerts. The NodeMCU processes sensor data and transmits it securely to the cloud. Users can monitor drainage status remotely through the Adafruit interface. The setup is cost-effective, scalable, and helps in smart city wastewater management. The buzzer serves as a failsafe if internet connectivity is lost. Overall, this IoT solution enhances drainage maintenance efficiency and reduces waterlogging risks.
