Video tutorial on how to replace the light bulb located in the heater, ventilation, and air conditioning control switches/panel in a VW MK4 Golf, Jetta, Bora, or Beetle. There is only one bulb that lights up the whole panel and there is no need to remove the panel for replacement. This particular tutorial was done on a 2004 Volkswagen Golf TDI.

Tools/Supplies Needed:
-replacement bulb is #2721
-pliers
-electrical tape or a cloth
-needle nose pliers

Procedure:
-ensure the vehicle is off and the lights are not on
-taking your pliers, wrap the tip in electrical tape
-if you do not have electrical tape, then wrap the plastic fan speed knot in a cloth
-carefully remove the climate control panel's fan switch knob by pulling straight out using the pliers
-sometimes you maybe able to use your hands, but a majority of the time it fits very tight into place
-once removed, you then have direct access to the bulb
-using needle noise pliers with electrical tape on the jaws or a small hose, carefully remove the bulb in the center located where the knob was
-remember the bulb is fragile so don't break it
-the replacement bulb is #2721
-once removed, you can now install the new bulb
-when reinstalling the new knob, ensure the contacts are in the correct position and touching
-test the light to ensure it's working correctly
-now reinstall the knob
