One of California's top backpacking destinations- I have a full length video from Lake 1 and finish at Lake 5. I camped at Lake 2 (PERMIT REQUIRED) Park in the overnight parking for backpacking and you can use the day trip parking lot for day hikers. You can bring your furry pet. I did not encounter any mosquitoes which is a positive but we had snow. It is all uphill to get to the lakes.
