How to Eat Passion Fruit | Passion Fruit Taste Test

In this episode of In the Kitchen with Matt, I will show you how to eat passion fruit. I will also let you know what passion fruit tastes like. Passion fruit is a fantastic fruit native to Brazil through Paraguay and northern parts of Argentina, however, they are cultivated and grown all over the world in tropical and subtropical areas. Fun fact for you, passion fruit grows well here in the Phoenix area of Arizona! Pretty awesome right?

How do you eat passion fruit? Well, you simply just cut it in half and scoop out the inside. Easy as that.

What does a passion fruit taste like? Depending on the variety and when you pick it, it can be slightly sour or really sweet. The ones I get at the store tend to be on the more sour side. The ones off my friend's plant are on the sweeter side. Then they have these little seeds that are crunchy but they are encased in the jelly-like material which is what you want to eat or juice. The seeds are easy to eat so I just chomp on them. Or you can just juice the passion fruit and put them in a smoothie.

Passion fruit are quite healthy and pack lots of vitamins and minerals in the low-calorie fruit. They are high in fiber as well.
