How To - Remove late 2008MY BMW E9x LCI Door Mirror Glass and Cover/Pod

I wanted to remove the back covers from my European market E91 door mirrors to carry out some pre-winter maintenance (remove spiders and cobwebs and general muck). But all attempts to follow generally available advice on the apparently simple task of just pulling off the covers simply wouldn't work for me, no matter how hard I pulled. So after some research using BMW Technical Information System (TIS), I discovered that the mirror glass should first be removed in order to gain access to the back cover/pod securing tabs. I decided to make a video of the complete procedure involved in removing not only the glass and cover/pod, but also the gloss black mirror housing (aka Supporting Ring), in order to expose the entire metal sub-assembly on which everything hangs. I hope that someone finds this useful, as it would have saved me one or two anxious moments.
