SO Many Features! - Making the ULTIMATE Travel Tack Trunk!

Описание к видео SO Many Features! - Making the ULTIMATE Travel Tack Trunk!

Today, we're thrilled to share with you what we believe is the ultimate travel tack trunk. It all started with a slightly modified, super heavy duty Husky Mobile Job Box originally designed for construction sites, but we've transformed it into the perfect companion for horse shows. Let's walk you through the modifications we made to this job site box to make it more suitable for storing tack and its impressive features that will surely make you want one for yourself.

First, let's take a look at the exterior. We ordered a standard tack trunk cover and had it embroidered with our custom design. The link to the site where you can get your own is provided in the description. We simply supplied the dimensions and chose the fabric colors and letters for the monogram. To enhance the comfort factor, we added velcro to the inside of the top, which you'll find out more about in just a minute.

Beneath the cover, we've ingeniously placed a dog bed from Amazon, which surprisingly fits perfectly and serves as a cushion for the top of the trunk. To keep it in place, we sewed some straps onto it, complete with velcro on the ends. The straps wrap around the lid, securing the cushion in place when the trunk is open. Additionally, the velcro on the cover and cushion ensure that the lid stays attached to the cushion when the trunk is open.

Now, let's dive into the features of the Husky 37" mobile job box itself. With wheels on one side and a pull-out handle on the other, it's incredibly convenient to maneuver, making it a breeze to transport to horse shows. Plus, it boasts heavy-duty latches with padlock loops and a built-in locking key for extra security. Inside, the trunk comes with a tool caddy, perfect for use as a grooming box. We made one minor adjustment to this caddy, which we'll cover shortly.

Now, let's move on to the inside modifications. There are just three key changes we made to optimize the interior. Firstly, we attached two cargo pouches with elastic loops to the inside of the lid. This required strategic drilling and cleverly sandwiching the loops between plastic and washers using nuts and bolts. The process took some planning but was completed in approximately an hour.

Secondly, we added a simple stick-up light to brighten up the interior, making it easier to see in the dark. Lastly, we crafted a piece of cedar to act as a divider in the grooming box, utilizing the shallow slots provided by the trunk. This not only keeps things organized but also gives the trunk a pleasant aroma when exposed to the heat.

We've been using this modified trunk for traveling to horse shows for over three years, and it has proven to be exceptionally durable and reliable. If you're interested in creating your own, we've included links in the description to all the parts we used. Feel free to ask any questions in the comments; we're happy to help.
