(7) Proper Protection of the Interests of The People

(9) It Minimise the Bad Effects of Political Parties

Demerits of Direct Democracy:
(1) It Lower the Prestige of Legislature
(2) Common Man is Not Competent to Make Laws
(3) Hindrance In the Way of Progressive Legislation
(4) Expensive State
(5) Causes Delay in the Passing of Laws
(6) Referendum is not a Sound Way to Know Public Opinion
(7) Indifferent Attitude of the People
