Cultural events can play a powerful role in empowering cities to compete on the global stage. These events can showcase a city’s unique heritage, talent and creativity, and they can also attract investment, tourism and talent, and promote economic growth and development. This talk features Marc Spiegler, American French art journalist and previous Global Director of Art Basel. His tenure included the launch of Art Basel Hong Kong in 2013, Art Basel Cities: Buenos Aires in 2018 and Paris+ par Art Basel in 2022, along with Art Basel’s expansion into other art-world activities and many digital initiatives.
