California Delta - Part One, exploring the San Joaquin River, Old River Channels and Islands.

I've always wanted to spend an extended amount of time exploring the California Delta (also called the Sacramento-Stockton Delta). So, a few weeks ago I made the drive, expecting to explore portions of the entire Delta area. Not a chance! This is an unimaginably large area, crisscrossed with countless levees, roadways and convoluted waterways which, while making for some terrific and fascinating opportunities for exploration, create a very inefficient pathway for making time. But, that's what we came to explore, and we were not disappointed. There's so much history throughout the Delta, and while much if it has been lost with time, we discovered much of it still remains, at least in some capacity. So please join us as we venture out into one of California's most unique areas. I'll need to return to continue exploring the more Westerly and Northern areas, but this little adventure only whetted our appetite for the inevitable return. Thanks as always for tagging along.
