One evening, after a long day of experimenting with paper airplanes, AumSum sat on the floor munching on a cookie while reading a book about insects.

As he reached for another bite, something tickled his toe. Thinking it was a stray thread, he looked down and froze. A cockroach, large and glossy, was scurrying across his foot. Before he could shake it off, he felt a tiny pinch - not quite painful, but enough to make him sit bolt upright.

AumSum jumped to his feet, heart thudding. He stared at the little red spot on his toe and frowned. Could that cockroach have bitten him?

He rushed to the sink to wash his foot, scrubbing with more intensity than necessary. As he dried off, he couldn't help but wonder what might happen next. Would his toe fall off? Would he develop superpowers? Or, perhaps, nothing at all?

He settled back on the floor, now more interested in cockroach behavior than airplanes. He remembered that most cockroach species aren’t biters. They scavenge and run from humans. But sometimes, in rare cases, if food particles or dead skin are present, they might take a nibble - especially in the night when people are sleeping.

AumSum wasn’t afraid, but he was curious. He observed the spot on his toe, making a mental note of its size and color. No swelling, no pain. Just a small red mark, like a mosquito bite.

He reasoned it was probably harmless. Still, he recalled that cockroaches aren’t exactly the cleanest creatures. They crawl through garbage, drains, and who knows what else. That meant germs - possibly bacteria that could cause infection if left untreated.

He decided to play it smart. He applied antiseptic, wrapped the toe in a tiny bandage, and promised himself to keep an eye on it for the next few days.
