Catching Kokanee & Trout

We have not fished this lake (Alder Lake) for over 30 years but yesterday we teamed up to wreak havoc on the Kokanee and Trout population. For the past several years water levels have periodically restricted the use of public boat launches but recently the levels have been high enough to launch a boat.

Using downriggers and flat lining Half Fast dodgers with a variety of Hoochies we managed to put many fish in the cooler. Some will be smoked and others will be broiled and ate with whatever the chef of the household settles on. Me, I will eat just about anything she makes.

Most were caught from the surface to 40 ft. All were found in at least 175 feet or deeper water.
