Manikaran Sahib is a Sikh pilgrimage site located in the Parvati Valley on the banks of the Parvati River in the state of Himachal Pradesh, India. It is situated about 4 kilometers ahead of Kasol and about 35 kilometers from Kullu. The place is known for its hot springs, religious significance, and natural beauty.
The name "Manikaran" is derived from two words, "Mani" meaning jewel or gem, and "Karan" meaning creation. According to Sikh tradition, Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the founder of Sikhism, visited this place with his disciple Bhai Mardana. The story goes that when Bhai Mardana was hungry and they couldn't find any food, Guru Nanak asked him to lift a stone, and a hot spring appeared. Guru Nanak then cooked food in the hot spring, and since then, the hot springs of Manikaran are considered sacred by Sikhs.
Apart from the Sikh Gurdwara (place of worship), there are also Hindu temples in Manikaran dedicated to Lord Shiva and Lord Ramchandra. The hot springs are believed to have healing properties, and many people visit Manikaran for both religious and therapeutic reasons.
The area is surrounded by stunning landscapes with the Parvati River flowing through the valley, making it a popular destination for both pilgrims and tourists seeking a peaceful and scenic retreat.
