Distance / Two Lanes - Day 1629 Progress

2024 has been an extremely trying year for our family and today we had to put our German Shepherd "Pixel" to sleep. She was diagnosed with sarcoma (cancer) of the knee joint cartilage and bone which had subsequently spread to her lymphatic system and lungs. This was made especially difficult by the fact that she was only five and a half years old and was otherwise full of beans and happy. She has been a companion to me for my entire piano journey and treated the GX-2 like a crate she would sit under while I practise. She also kept my left foot warm in winter.

Pixel had to odd habit of making 11/10 happy yelping noises while running in circles trying to catch her own tail ONLY when my wife would play the piano. If anyone else was playing the piano she would just walk under it and go to sleep. Julia, our piano teacher would be greeted with the most crazy zoomies whenever she comes over to teach.

Here is my recording of Distance by ​⁠‪@TWOLANES‬. These guys write simple but well put together pieces with a lot of emphasis on tone and space and this particular piece of their's really suits my somewhat reflective and sombre mood. I am off to find a beer.
