What Happened to the Entwives? | Lord of the Rings Lore | Middle-Earth

The loss of the Entwives is one of the saddest tales in Middle-Earth, for without them it seemed as if the Ent race was doomed to fail. Why did the Entwives leave the Ents? What Happened to them? Were all the Entwives killed by Sauron's forces or did some of them manage to escape and survive? And if so were they ever reunited with the Ents?
