What exactly is the past tense of the words lead, read, and dream? That’s our question of the day!

The past tense of lead is led, spelled led. I often lead meetings at work. Yesterday I led a meeting with a new client. Lead - led.

The past tense of read is read - it’s spelled exactly the same, read, but pronounced like the color red. I always read a book before bed. Last month I read two books.

The past tense of dream can be dreamed or dreamt - both forms are correct and they’ve both been used in English for several hundred years. So last night I dreamed about flying, or last night I dreamt about flying - they’re both fine.

Lead - led
Read - red
Dream - dreamed or dreamt
