I don't often upload losing runs even though I have a lot of them. There's a survivorship bias in play for any dickhead who uploads junk to youtube, and I think it's important to highlight the fact that we lose a LOT in high difficulties and it's okay. So if you're in that position where you're trying to dip your toes into modded or high hazards and struggling and thinking it's an impossible cliff and "i'll never be able to do the stuff that cool youtube e-celeb can do", just please don't take it too hard because it's basically reality TV and nothing is real. Seriously, just play and lose and eventually you'll get lucky enough to win like me sometimes and then it looks cool and people compliment you and feed your enormous ego.

And definitely don't believe anyone who claims to actually be good at this game, and certainly don't just blindly buy into their opinions on things even if they have a cool 500 subscribers on youtube. In unrelated news i am good at this game and u should listen to me because im right and stalkers are the worst enemy that's ever existed, and the people that don't realize that stalkers are absolutely miserable and/or stupid are probably miserable and/or stupid themselves and should just stop sharing wrong opinions on the internet and/or should go watch the tv show andor instead because it's actually really good.

(this is the stalker rant special)

Stalkers stalkers stalkers. My last upload went on an unhinged rant in the description and I realized shortly after uploading it that the video itself doesn't have any particular reason to believe in my scams. The aggressive tilt is from failed runs (both from that challenge and other unrelated games), and that toxicity leaked into a video that really just showed off "getting lucky" vs stalkers, and blurs the point.

So obviously I had to figure out which of my many stalker-based failed runs needed an upload to really hammer in the idea. Luckily there was a wide selection to choose from and so I picked this one. If you want good engy play go watch my hyperalloy run. If you want whinging and baby rants stick around here!

I've been doing a lot of complaining recently, sorry. I hope it's not too off-putting because honestly there are things I find severely unfun that I need to put words towards just to validate anyone else who might be feeling the same way. Some of this is spurred on by a recent reddit post where someone said something like "stalkers probably aren't ok" and the replies were loaded with rubbish like "skill issue" and "honestly they're pretty easy, just get good" and "umm actually you're bad, get gud", and I found that shit really annoying to the point where I'm passive aggressively complaining behind these anonymous users' backs on a totally different platform from a tiny soapbox because that'll really show em!!

Stalkers, like stingtails before them, have a particularly devious set of tools that effectively boil down to "unsatisfying" in the best case and "uncounterable instakill" in the worst case. Both enemies are given the full gamut of literally-every-trick-in-the-difficulty-book; they have extremely high spike damage output potential (both can effectively one shot you from nowhere, regardless if they actually get the final killing blow) while having CRAZY defensive capability and traits that make them worse and worse into high densities as they hard punish many off-meta builds.

I get that most people play casually and in teams where one person going down isn't the end of the world - but for me, I like my deaths to be fair and my fault. That's the key. I'm fine dying to a mackie because I missed the shot or moved poorly. I'm fine with the death in this run to swarmers because I made some bad positioning choices. I'm not fine when an enemy I could hear in the background taunting me as I frantically searched for it only revealed itself at the instant it killed me. That shit isn't fun, and it certainly doesn't feel fair.
