When Synology first revealed that they were already in the final stages of rolling out the latest update to their popular software platform, DSM version 7.2, many of us were quite surprised about the strong focus on enterprise features and appliances being the focus point. Synology has been increasingly shifting gears on its platform toward more business and enterprise-scale users in the last few years and though DSM 7.2 updates did include a few more home, prosumer and SMB improvements, the bulk of the updates that are coming in this new revision are ones to further bolster their business single ecosystem even further! The following article covers everything we learnt about intended software and service updates for the Synology DSM Platform. How many of these end up as DSM 7.2 implementations and how many end up being rolled into individual application updates on their own (and therefore accessible in DSM 7.1 currently) is yet to be seen. Improvements in featured services such as Synology Active Backup, Drive and Surveillance Station may well arrive independently.
