Amanda Payne, Head of Residential Property talks today about new build properties and the warranty you get from the builder.

Typically you get a NHBC 10 year warranty.

So in the first two years if you have any structural or major issues you want to be dealt with. Then the remaining eight years of the warranty you would have to go directly to the NHBC if there was a problem or if you need to make a claim.

The NHBC would typically send out a surveyor to review the property and would put the damage right.

This has nothing to do with snagging which are the minor issues you may have when moving into your new build. For example the paint work touch up or small plastering jobs.
