Pete Sampras and Andre Agassi faced off 34 times in their careers, with Sampras finishing with a 20-14 edge in a rivalry that spanned 13 years. They met four times at the US Open, with Sampras sweeping their New York bouts.

Fittingly, three of those four US Open meetings came in the championship match. But the 2001 quarterfinal has best stood the test of time, it's quality and drama every bit deserving of a final itself.

Neither Sampras, 30, nor Agassi, 31, dropped serve once in Arthur Ashe Stadium, with each set being decided by a tiebreak, one more riveting than the last.

"Two great players playing great at the same time," Sampras would tell the The New York Times, looking back years later. "That doesn't often happen."
