Toyota Tacoma Review // Still the King but not perfect

This is a Motormouth couple car review of the Toyota Tacoma mid-size pickup truck.We are driving the Tacoma Nightshade model with a blacked out exterior including the grille, mirror caps, door handles, dark smoke 18” alloy wheels, black badging and a moonroof. In Canada, the Tacoma has one engine option, a 3.5L V6 engine with a 6-speed automatic and an available 6-speed manual, 278 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque. In the US, a 2.7L 4-cylinder engine with 159 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque is standard on SR and SR5 trims. The 3.5L V6 is available on these trims and standard on all other trims. This pick up has a double wishbone system with coil springs, gas shock absorbers, a stabilizer bar up front and multi-leaf springs and gas shock absorbers in the rear. TRD Sport models add sport-tuned gas shocks and TRD Off Road models get Bilstein shocks. The driver activated automatic limited slip differential engages the traction control system to help control wheel spin. The Tacoma is available in 4x2 and 4x4 Access Cab or 4x4 Double Cab configurations with 5 and 6-foot beds. Double Cab models feature a 60/40-split fold down seat backs, fold out seat cushions and under seat storage. Access Cab rear seats fold up offering additional cargo capacity. There’s seating for up to 4 people in the Access Cab and 5 in the Double Cab. The Double Cab is the best choice if you take passengers on a regular basis, it provides more room. I did find the front seats to be a little bit too low to the floor and had a hard time getting comfortable. The TRD Pro now comes in an electric lime green colour and TRD lift kit for increased suspension lift in the front and rear. The Toyota Tacoma available features include an 8-way power driver’s seat in fabric or available leather, a power sliding rear window, moonroof and dual zone automatic climate control. The Tacoma has an easy lower and lift tailigate with access to a 5” or 6” cargo bed. A rear step bumper makes loading and unloading easy. The interior offers a premium black leather cabin, a 7-speaker JBL audio system and a moonroof. There’s seating for up to 4 people in the Access Cab and 5 in the Double Cab. Standard Toyota Safety Sense includes, lane departure warning, dynamic radar cruise control, pre-collision assist and automatic high beams.
