Folks have DM’d me asking what to work on when first starting out in Effects animation.

I’d say that this shot in Tangled☀️ is a good example. Previous post is a good example, too.

Don’t be tempted into doing big complex effects if you haven’t really studied and understand the “small stuff”. Quotes cause there’s no small stuff. What I mean are effects that are needed in every film. Dust hits, sparks, debris, etc… Things we see often in life. So often that we know when it doesn’t look quite right.

Study the velocity and gravity of these “small” events/effects and you will build off of them as you move into more “big” complex ones.
