Samurai Shodown 1 [PS1] - play as Amakusa in Story Mode

Описание к видео Samurai Shodown 1 [PS1] - play as Amakusa in Story Mode

This is a play-through using Amakusa Shirou Tokisada in Story Mode in the PS1 version of Samurai Spirits 1 (from Samurai Spirits: Kenkaku Yubinan Pack). Read on below for more information...

Amakusa is the one and only boss in the game. He is an unlockable hidden character, but he cannot be used in Story Mode.

===== The messed-up transition =====
When playing as him In Story Mode, if you lose the 1st round the game will go into his background transition phase, no matter which background you are on. The game shows the transition on his own background which messes up, then eventually it'll go back to the background you were on. When the 2nd or 3rd round starts, the sprites becomes flawed and messed up, and sometimes will lock the whole game. You can see this beginning at 32:34 in the video.

===== Additional Information =====

---- As an unplayable character in Story Mode, completing the game with him will lock the game.

---- When you reach the end and fight against CPU Amakusa, he always has the default colour palette.

---- He has a move where after he is hit and reappears (after he disappears in a puff of smoke), he immediately performs his multiple slaps. I'm not sure if a human player can do this move with him.

===== About Amakusa =====
One of the most well-known SNK bosses, and the original Samurai Shodown boss. He is perhaps best known for his slightly-androgynous design and the high-pitched wails. He also uses the same name as the real life historical figure.

Gameplay-wise, his basic moves are limited, but when his orb strikes hit, they do heavy depletion. His multiple slaps are very fast as well. His special moves are also very useful, and he recovers fast from his Flaming Projectile.

===== About PS1 Samurai Shodown 1 =====
PS1 SS1 is part of a 2-disc game collection called Samurai Spirits: Kenkaku Yubinan Pack, with the other game in the collection being Samurai Spirits 2.

This version is a very good port of the Arcade game. Aside from the ridiculous loading times, mostly everything else seems to be intact, which is expected considering the game is much "less-hardware-demanding" when compared to the later SS games. I am unsure whether there are any animation frames cut, but if there is then it's not noticeable.

Something that's disappointing is the fact that before a fight starts, there's a slight freeze/pause before the announcer says the round and fight voices... this kind of ruins the artistic "flow" of things if you know what I mean.

The game takes advantage of the PS1 hardware and uses the AST soundtrack.
